About Us

Eastpoint Financial Limited operates as a financial services brokerage under the trading name ELoanz. We are a New Zealand registered company, a registered Financial Service Provider, and a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FAP) under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013. Our lender panel includes Avanti Finance, UDC Finance, Heartland Bank, and Broadlands Finance. We are a member of Financial Services Complaints Limited (FSCL).

Depending on your circumstances and the nature of your enquiry, ELoanz may provide regulated financial advice through an authorised adviser, or may introduce you to a lender without providing advice. This distinction is explained below.

Financial Advice Services

Where you engage an authorised ELoanz adviser, we provide regulated financial advice across the following categories:

We do not advise on residential mortgage lending, investment products, insurance, or KiwiSaver. Any advice we provide is based on the information you give us, so accuracy and completeness matter. If your circumstances change before a loan settles, please tell us promptly.

Introducer Services

In some cases ELoanz introduces clients to lenders without making a personal recommendation. This applies where you have determined your own requirements independently, or where the nature of the engagement does not call for an adviser assessment. When we are acting as an introducer we will tell you. In that case, no financial advice has been provided, and the lender's own processes and terms govern the subsequent engagement. You remain free to seek independent advice before proceeding.

How We Work with Lenders

ELoanz submits applications to lenders on your behalf based on your requirements and financial profile. Lenders make their own independent credit decisions. We have no authority to approve or decline credit, and nothing in our engagement constitutes a pre-approval or guarantee of lending.

Not all lenders operating in New Zealand are on our panel. You may ask which lenders were considered for your application and why. If you have a preference for or against a specific lender, let us know.

Fees and Costs

Broker fee

We may charge a broker or arrangement fee depending on the type and complexity of the lending. The amount will be disclosed in writing before any commitment is made. No fee is deducted from loan proceeds without your prior agreement.

Lender fees

Lenders may charge their own fees including application, establishment, or early repayment charges. These are set by the lender and are outside our control. Review the lender's own disclosure and loan agreement carefully before signing.

Commissions and Other Benefits

ELoanz receives commission from lenders when a loan is settled. Commission is typically calculated as a percentage of the loan amount, a flat fee, or a combination, depending on the lender. Where we recommend a product, we will tell you whether commission is payable and give a reasonable estimate of the amount.

Some lenders may offer volume-based incentives. Where such arrangements are material to the advice or service provided, they will be disclosed. You may request more detailed commission information at any time.

Conflicts of Interest

Commission received from lenders creates a potential conflict of interest, as it could influence which lender or product is recommended. ELoanz manages this through:

If you believe a conflict has influenced the service you received, you may raise it as a complaint.

Our Duties to You

When providing financial advice, ELoanz and its advisers are required under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 to:

Further information about these obligations is available from the Financial Markets Authority at fma.govt.nz.

Limits of Our Service

ELoanz does not provide advice on residential mortgage lending, insurance, investment products, or KiwiSaver. We do not provide legal or tax advice. Credit decisions are made solely by lenders and we cannot guarantee approval or particular terms. If your needs fall outside what we can assist with, we will tell you and suggest where to find appropriate help.

Your Responsibilities

To receive the best service from us, please provide accurate and complete information about your financial situation and the purpose of the lending you are seeking. Notify us if anything material changes before your loan settles. Read all documentation provided by ELoanz and by any lender before signing, and ask questions if anything is unclear.

Complaints

This information is used to assess your requirements, provide advice where applicable, submit applications to lenders, and meet our legal obligations including anti-money laundering requirements.
